American camping expert Big Agnes opens European headquarters

American camping and outdoor gear brand Big Agnes has opened a new European headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to help service the market in the Benelux, France, Scandinavia and the UK. By the end of the next year, five employees in the office will be responsible for customer and dealer service, operations and trade marketing across European markets.

Bill Gambler, co-founder and president of Colorado-based Big Agnes, said: “Though we’re one of the top camping and backpacking brands in the US, we have been perceived as a niche brand in Europe for a long time. That’s really changed over the last three years as we have been able to demonstrate the quality of our products and focus on sustainability, which differentiate us from the competition. The recent launch of our backpack line has also made waves in Europe, with feedback and orders far exceeding our expectations. In order to take dealer service to the next level, this step was inevitable. We’re thrilled to see Big Agnes continue to grow in Europe.”

Big Agnes’ new Amsterdam office is led by international operations manager Fred van Drie, who will manage a team dedicated to operational efficiencies and supporting the growing client base.

Mark Flanagan, international director at Big Agnes, added: “The service needs of our partners have always been hugely important at Big Agnes, so in order to sustain the rapid growth within EMEA and Asia-Pac, this investment was the logical next step. The new office will serve as a commercial hub for Big Agnes International and will aim to replicate our Colorado headquarters culture – so we expect to find time for many ping-pong showdowns with any visitors in our sizable back garden.”
