Australian manufacturer celebrates 20,000th chassis production

Australian manufacturer New Age Caravans and Walkinshaw Group recently celebrated a special milestone as the 20,000th New Age Caravans chassis rolled off its production line in Melbourne. The chassis in question will become a Manta Ray 16ft pop-top, one of the original ranges produced by the company that has become a staple since 2010.

New Age Caravans managing director, Chris Polites, said: “It’s a fantastic milestone seeing our 20,000th chassis off the production line, and on top of that, the unit being a 16ft pop-top is a fantastic link to our history and journey here at New Age Caravans.

“It’s asignificant achievement that we are very proud of internally, but importantly, it’s a great celebration of local manufacturing here in Australia, which is really bouncing back after the challenges of the last few years.

“We look forward to the handover of the caravan later this year to the selling dealership in Melbourne, and hope the new owner enjoys their journey.”

The company has been ramping up its production in recent months after the disruption of the COVID-19 restrictions – it now employs more than 300 staff and produces more than 2,000 caravans per year, sold and serviced by 15 dealers around Australia.
