Bailey embarks on two-week behind-the-scenes supplier tour

One of the UK’s biggest caravan brands, Bailey, is sending its managing director Simon Howard and brand ambassador Lee Davey on a two-week trip around the UK and Europe to visit its suppliers as part of a behind-the-scenes live tour. The pair will visit some of Bailey’s key suppliers and will help end users get a glimpse into how caravans are made and the many different companies that manufacture parts for them. The tour, which will take place in a Bailey Pegasus Grande SE Ancona caravan, will cover more than 2,000 miles with visits to big industry names such as Thetford, Truma and AL-KO. Each visit will involve an interview with a key company representative and a tour of their premises.

Simon Howard said: “The key challenge facing most businesses at the moment is maintaining its supply chain. Bailey is no different, with up to 12,000 individual parts from over 100 companies going to make up one of our vehicles and coordinating the supply of these items has been especially difficult in recent times.

“We have, however, been working closely with our key partners during this period to minimize disruption, and we thought that now would be a good time to visit some of them in person to see how they are responding to these challenges.”

Lee Davey added: “I’ve just had the opportunity to spend a day working on the main caravan assembly line to give me a first-hand insight into how a caravan is built. One of the things that struck me whilst on the line was the tremendous variety of components needed to make a modern leisure vehicle, so I am really interested in finding out more about where and how they are made and by whom.”

You can follow along with the tour via the Bailey Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
