It might be hard to imagine that a company with roots dating back to 1874 could be new to anything, but German oil manufacturing expert BALLISTOL has managed to find a new market full of potential in camping. The company, which was originally founded by Friedrich Wilhelm Klever, has a long and impressive history manufacturing and creating products for a huge range of industries – from everyday household use, to the cleaning and maintenance of machinery, to medicinal purposes, and just about everything in between. Its Universal Oil, which was first produced back in 1904, can be used to clean, preserve, protect, maintain, impregnate, lubricate and disinfect. It is not only suitable for machines or equipment made of steel and iron, but also for natural wood and leather (with the exception of suede) as well as for oil-resistant rubbers and plastics. Naturally, this opened up a wide range of markets for BALLISTOL and lead to the development of more varied and exciting new products (more than 80 in all) that have a wide range of different applications covering everything from skin care, to waterproofing, to cleaning. Somehow, the camping and RV industry has been a market that has evaded BALLISTOL… until now. The company has decided to make a concerted effort to grow in our industry with many existing products already with numerous applications suitable for camping and caravanning, and also barbecue cleaner and mosquito and insect repellent. 

BALLISTOL online marketing manager Leif Jacobsen explained: “In the last few years, regular investments have been made in the continuous optimisation of processes as well as in the areas of further development and innovations. In the medium and long term, new products from BALLISTOL are to be established on the market and market shares are to be further expanded with the existing product range. At the same time, we as a company want to make sure that we, as a chemical-pharmaceutical manufacturer, leave only a small ecological footprint, if at all, despite our industry affiliation, and produce as climate-neutrally as possible. Among other things, the multiple use of generated energy plays a role in this. For example, the waste heat generated during production is already used as heating energy.”
