Campsite chain First Camp records major revenue increase

Scandinavia’s largest campsite chain, First Camp, has reported a huge boost in its revenues this summer. The company, which has 40 destinations in Sweden and six in Denmark, has reported a 20 per cent increase on its revenue for July this year compared to 2020 – figures it believes have been aided by the acceleration of the staycation trend and the growth in sales of tents, caravans and motorhomes.

The booking situation for August is also strong, with a 24 per cent increase compared to the same time in 2020 and 22 per cent increase compared to  2019. However, a high proportion of bookings are made close to arrival, and there is continued uncertainty about how neighbouring countries' recommendations and restrictions for international travel will develop during the early autumn.

First Camp believes its market share growth is in part down to the current strength of the camping industry thanks to restrictions on international travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also thanks to large investments it has made in its product and the digitisation of its services.
