Coleman and Outbound Collective partner to make the outdoors more inclusive

Well-known camping and outdoors brand The Coleman Company and community-driven outdoor media platform Outbound Collective have announced a new partnership to empower people to get outside and make the outdoors more welcoming and inclusive. The collaboration will further help Coleman showcase and celebrate stories of people, passions and purpose in the outdoor community.

“Much like our consumers, Coleman is on a journey of discovery,” said Jim Pisani, CEO of Newell Brands Outdoor & Recreation Division. “The Outbound Collective is a natural fit for us with shared values anchored in hope and inclusivity. We believe that when people connect in the outdoors, anything is possible. We also believe that the outside is a place for everyone. The outside is calling all of us. This partnership is a great example of our willingness to answer the call—to reimagine a better tomorrow for everyone.”

The collaboration will help both companies live up to their ideals. One example of this is how Coleman will support Outbound Collective’s Writers Residency for Underrepresented Storytellers. By supporting diverse, representative storytelling, the Outbound is increasing the percentage of published content from historically excluded members of the outdoor community. In partnership with Coleman as well as other partners, it is awarding three writers from underrepresented communities a $4,000 cash stipend and $2,000+ in gear.

Brian Heifferon, CEO and co-founder of the Outbound Collective, added: “Coleman is a classic outdoor brand that is exploring what it means to get outside, connecting with local communities and working towards a better tomorrow for everyone. Our partnership with Coleman will help them explore these themes and tell these important stories from underrepresented storytellers.”
