Demand still sky high at sell-out UK show
More than 104,000 people flocked to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in the UK for the triumphant return of October’s Motorhome and Caravan Show after a three-year absence.
The show, which is twinned with February’s Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show, showed that demand still remains sky-high for camping and caravanning despite the challenges facing the industry around supply chain issues and parts shortages.
Coachman, Swift, and Bailey – three of the UK’s biggest caravan and motorhome players were there alongside huge European names including Adria, Carthago, Erwin Hymer Group and Knaus Tabbert. There was even presence from some of the USA’s biggest brands including Airstream and Lippert. Clearly, any lingering thoughts that it might be counterproductive to showcase products to growing new audiences when not being able to manufacture at full capacity, have fallen by the wayside.
Terry Dullaghan, managing director at NCC Events, said: “It’s the first time this Show has taken place since 2019 and we're over the moon to be back delivering another successful event with the biggest audience the Show has ever seen. We have seen a huge influx of people who have a brand new appreciation for the outdoors and exploring what's right on their doorstep and it's pleasing that this has resulted in a strong level of sales for our exhibitors.
“We’d like to say thanks to all the visitors who travelled from across the UK to visit the Show, our exhibitors, partners and sponsors for their continued support and are looking forward to producing another fantastic Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC in February 2023.”
As well as the big name producers of leisure vehicles themselves, the show was also a haven for those who make components and accessories. During our exploration of the show floor we spoke to many companies including Peggy Peg, Dometic, Westfield Outdoors, Pundmann, who were all impressed with the organisation of the event, as well as the strong attendance.
