Founder and former president of Promocamp dies

The man who founded Italian tourism, camping and outdoors association Promocamp has sadly died. Gianni Minzoni was 81.

Gianni founded the Promocamp back in the 1990’s with the aim of uniting entrepreneurs from the camping, hiking, outdoor and tourism industries in Italy to protect their interests and grow their industry. In the beginning Promocamp focussed mainly on tent camping, but in later years it absorbed the growing popular pastimes of caravanning and motorhoming too.

During his time as president of Promocamp, a position he held until 2005, Giannia helped set up several websites and media platforms to promote outdoor tourism and also the Fiera Mondo Natura Rimini exhibition.

A statement released by Promocamp said that the loss of Gianni “leaves a great void for his human qualities of affability, generosity and absolute availability towards everyone”.  The organisation also vowed to continue on the path of good work that he started.
