Japanese and German caravan industry bodies agree to closer cooperation

The Caravan Industry Association in Germany (CIVD) and its Japanese counterpart the Japan RV Association (JRVA) have agreed to a new strategic partnership to ensure closer cooperation between the two bodies for the future. The agreement was signed via the form of a memorandum of understanding on 4 February this year as part of a CIVD delegation trip to JRVA-organised event the Japan Camping Car Show. The agreement will lead to a continuous dialogue between the two bodies on all caravanning-related issues as well as regulations and standards between Japan and Germany. Further talks are scheduled to take place at Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany in late August 2023.

Japan is the largest caravanning market in Asia, totally more than 50 per cent of motorhome registrations for the region – those registrations have in fact increased by 66 per cent between 2017 and 2021. The JRVA believes that despite these figures, caravanning lifestyle is not as well developed in Japan as it is in Europe and hopes this new agreement will allow both countries to share ideas and innovations.
