Leading British retailer reveals regional camping trends

Leading camping and outdoor retailer Cotswold Outdoor has revealed some interesting trends about where camping is most popular in the UK following analysis of purchases in 2021. The company studied 2021 UK purchases per capita of outdoor clothing and equipment for hiking, climbing, camping, swimming and snow sports and has produced a breakdown of where these activities appear to be most popular at a retail sales level.

In camping, the county of Wiltshire was revealed to be the place where the hobby was most popular, followed by the city of Bristol, and then Stirling, Aberdeen and Glasgow. As well as being the home of the biggest camping fans in the country according to this data, Wiltshire also ranked second place in the climbing and swimming purchases tables too.

It was also no surprise to see Scottish locations such as Stirling, Aberdeen and Glasgow ranking highly in these figures as the country possesses some of the best outdoor opportunities in the United Kingdom thanks to its wild and rugged landscape. The overall trends also show that the appetite for camping and enjoying the outdoors in the UK shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
