New appointments add experience to Bailey of Bristol

British caravan and motorhome maker Bailey of Bristol has added a wealth of experience to its ranks with the hiring of a new head of new product development and the appointment a new chief financial officer via an internal promotion.

David McDonald (pictured above, right) is the company’s new head of new product development and has more than 30 years of extensive experience in new model introduction and design in the automotive industry. He previously worked for car brand Honda and is a keen caravanner, so he brings a unique combination of hands-on experience with leisure vehicles and extensive knowledge of new product development in the sector.

Meanwhile, Bailey’s head of finance Martyn Cutter (pictured above, left) has been appointed to the role of chief financial officer after a successful three-and-a-half years at the company. During his time at Bailey, Martyn has overseen the transformation of its finance department and has successfully navigated the business financially through the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Martyn is a chartered accountant, qualifying at Deloitte in the early 2000’s, with experience in senior financial roles across a number of sectors including energy and financial services. Bailey has also invited experienced non-executive director Nick Hall to join the Bailey board at the same time.

Bailey managing director Nick Howard said: “We are delighted that both Martyn and Nick have accepted our offer to join the Bailey board in this top-level restructure of our finance operation.

“Martyn has shown great maturity in steering the company financially through one of the, if not the, most challenging periods in Bailey’s 70-year history. His promotion to the position of chief financial officer is a reflection of our confidence in his abilities and is part of a well-considered succession plan following Mike Coley’s retirement from the business.”
