New caravan park initiative launched in Australia

As lockdown restrictions ease and summer approaches, the camping and caravanning industry in Australia is hoping to capitalise on a staycation boom with the launch of G’Day Parks – a new online community of independent caravan parks.

Launched by the G’Day Group, G’Day Parks is a domestic tourist network of 65 owned parks and 220 independent parks dotted around Australia and has been launched at a pivatol moment for the industry. It will allow Australians to easily search and book stays at caravan parks all over the country.

Grant Wilckens, CEO of G’Day Group said: “We [have launched] what we hope will become an iconic Australian tourism brand, synonymous with authentic Aussie experiences. Our network makes up the largest regional accommodation group in Australia and over the next few months, we’ll be introducing G’Day Parks to the nation, supported by the best tech in the industry – an intuitive new website and app.”

G’day Parks is born from the transition of the Top Parks brand and network of properties acquired by the G’Day Group in early 2018. These independently owned properties are coupled with the Discovery Holiday Parks portfolio to create an industry leading Group.

The launch coincides with the G’day Group acquiring a number of new properties across Australia, achieving its goal of becoming a AUS$1 billion business by 2020.

Grant said: “This launch is a huge milestone for our Group after a rollercoaster year. Bushfires and COVID cost us millions, and it seemed unlikely that we would be achieving our 2020 target.

“But here we are, finishing 2020 with the launch of Australia’s biggest regional accommodation group and recording the strongest booking volume in our history. Having founded the company 14 years ago with just three parks and big ambitions, I couldn’t be prouder.”
