Leading American camping and outdoors gear brand Sierra Designs is celebrating after claiming the Product of the Year award in the annual UK Outdoor Industry Awards. Sierra claimed the award, as well as the best Sleeping category product, for its Night Cap sleeping bag – an innovative and versatile bag with a patent-pending zipperless design that claims to offer bed-like comfort. 

The award was presented at the recent Outdoor Trade Show held in Liverpool in the UK with with over 2,000 outdoor enthusiasts voting for their favourite product in each of nine categories, and then being judged by a panel of outdoor industry experts. Criteria including innovation, functionality, choice of materials, environmental friendliness, safety and commercial viability were used by the judges to decide on the outright winners.

Damon Street, European general manager of Sierra’s parent company Exxel Outdoors, said: “We’re obviously delighted to receive this recognition from the industry. For us, it really shows that what Sierra offers as a brand – a combination of a strong history with modern, innovative and sustainable ideas – is really resonating with the trade and consumers in the UK and Europe.”

The zipperless design of the Sierra Night Cap with oversized comforter makes it lighter, easier to get in and out of, and less restrictive when you’re inside it. It also features a patented self-sealing foot vent, that provides quick and easily ventilation if you get too hot. The Night Cap also features recycled synthetic insulation that reduces the product’s environmental impact but also offers excellent warmth when needed. The sleeping bag is available in three versions: 20°, 20° Women’s version and 35°.

The full list of winners for the 2021 awards saw a couple of other camping brands pick up prizes, including Vango in the Camping Equipment category for its Radiate DLX Chair and Robens in the Tents category for its Chinhook Ursa S. The fiull list of winners for 2021 is as follows:
