Snow Peak aims to connect global camping community with virtual campout

Tent and camping accessory brand Snow Peak is hoping to unite the global camping community with its second annual virtual campout. The event will take place between 28 and 31 May and will feature an additional three weeks of activities for people to get involved in, as well as launching some limited edition merchandise.

The event was conceptualised last year as a way to connect friends and outdoor enthusiasts around the world during the pandemic and its accompanying lockdowns – more than 3,000 registered campouts took place in 57 different countries.

Matt Liddle, chief operating officer at Snow Peak USA, said: “In 2020, the Snow Peak At Home Campout brought us together to safely enjoy the outdoors during a time of crisis and isolation.

“This year, we’re leaning into Snow Peak’s mission of restoring humanity through time outside, with a focus on creating an inclusive event that appeals to all. There’s no wrong way to camp at home. The Snow Peak At Home Campout is for anyone, anywhere. It’s simply a time to unplug and reconnect to nature and your loved ones, whatever that looks like for you.”

In the United States, Snowpeak will be selling customised merchandise for this event, from which all profits will go to charity City Kids Wilderness Project – an organisation that provides enriching nature experiences for children in Washington D.C.

Registered participants will receive access to exclusive content, including specialized behind-the-scenes insights into gear design, delicious camping recipes, and a virtual opening ceremonies program. Additionally, Snow Peak will hold Takibi Time on Instagram Live each Monday in May, offering a preview of the week’s events. The brand will also host several social media contests for participants, including competitions for the best camp name, most delicious campout meal, and best campout scene.

Registration will open on 3 May.
