SuperSprings International supports basic utility vehicle non-profit

SuperSprings International is supporting Indianapolis-based non-profit organisation, the Institute for Affordable Transportation, to provide its basic utility vehicles with suspension components to improve their performance. Basic utility vehicles (BUV)s are a proven way of helping remote rural communities around the world by giving them better access to school and education and a better standard of living.

The Institute for Affordable Transportation provides simple, low cost, and highly practical vehicles that are entirely based on the needs of the community they serve. BUVs are designed for a wide range of countries so there are varying needs and solutions that make sense. One country may need to have something like a truck bed to haul food and water to communities that live tens of miles from the source. In another, the greatest need is getting crafted goods and crops to market in order for the community to create a revenue stream. These BUVs are as simple as they come – in most cases a very simple steel frame, three wheels, a basic diesel engine, a single seat for the driver, and a way to carry people and products. By keeping it simple, the Institute for Affordable Transportation are making it possible for those they serve to own and easily repair a tool that gives access to better living – and now they benefit from the simple upgrade of SuperSprings International (SSI) products that will help extend the BUVs lifespans.

SSI President, Adam Weisner, said: “More than anything else at SSI, we’re passionate about people and making life’s journey better for everyone however we can. This is engrained in the fabric of our company, and supporting an incredible organization like BUV is an honour. Will and the team are enriching the lives of those that don’t have easy access to vehicles like we do here in the US and we’re proud to be a small part of that.”

Institute for Affordable Transportation executive director, Will Austin, added: “The BUV has been designed from the ground up to be rugged, affordable, and easy to operate and maintain. Our partnership with SSI delivers a superior design for our suspension. The SumoSpring offers us many advantages including increased driver comfort, enhanced durability, and long life which allows BUVs to deliver hope in the developing world through rural transport.”
