Thor Industries announces plan to plant 500,000 trees

American camping and outdoor leisure giant Thor Industries has announced a new conservation effort in partnership with the USA’s National Forest Foundation (NFF) to plant half a million trees in the country’s national forests by 2025.

This pledge will help to boost outdoor recreational activities in national forests and also help to capture greenhouse gases and release more oxygen, reducing Thor Industries’ impact on the planet as a company.

Chris Workman, vice president of global supply management and sustainability at Thor Industries, said: “Partnering with NFF to protect such vital national and environmental treasures is a natural fit for Thor. For 40 years, our global family of operating companies has helped connect families from all walks of life to nature and each other. National forests are a significant destination for our RV owners.

“Our family of operating companies is committed now, more than ever, to connecting more people to nature, conserving our natural resources and continuing to improve in measurable ways, year on year. Partnering with NFF to plant 500,000 new trees in our national forests is a natural progression of our sustainability efforts.”

This latest collaboration is not a first for Thor Industries – in 2019 the company began partnering with the NFF to support reforestation efforts and recreation site improvements. This new pledge will help the Thor family of companies in its aim to reduce greenhouse gas emission by up to 50 per cent by 2030, and to become carbon neutral by 2050.
