Two new directors join Outdoor Industry Association board

The USA’s Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has announced the results of its annual Board of Directors election, with two new and three returning board members elected. The election took place on 28 May, 2021, and resulted in two new directors: Toad&Co CMO Sarah Matt and Merrell CMO Janice Tennant, who both begin their three-year terms in July.

The elections also saw three returning directors re-elected to commence their second three-year terms in July: BioLite CEO and co-founder Jonathan Cedar, Helen of Troy SVP marketing Phyllis Grove, and Patagonia VP of global wholesale Bruce Old.

OIA executive director, Lise Aangeenbrug, said: “The new directors will help guide the association to navigate the changing needs and challenges facing the industry and into a future with thriving outdoor businesses, thriving outdoor communities and a thriving planet.”

Moving off the board following the July meeting are Outdoor Afro Founder & CEO Rue Mapp, following six years of service, and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance director of retailer membership and education Dana Howe, following three years of service.

“The exiting directors represent unique and respected business voices and have provided the board with valuable perspective and insights, and we thank them for their contributions and committed service, added Lise Aangeenbrug.
