UK campervan converter helps raise half a million for charity

British campervan converter Wellhouse Leisure has raised £574,030 for charity by offering up a campervan package as a text-to-win prize. The package included an electric Toyota Proace Matino campervan, two tickets to see pop star Adele in concert and 12 months of insurance from campervan and motorhome insurance specialist Caravan Guard – they were donated to the BBC’s Children In Need appeal. Wellhouse Leisure also provided a campervan package in 2020, the two combined text-to-win contests have raised £1.67 million for the charity.

The Toyota Proace Matino by Wellhouse Leisure is a four-berth campervan with a luxury specification for comfortable staycations at any time of year. It has a kitchen with fridge, sink and gas cooker, a rear seat that unfolds to become a double bed, a pop-up roof containing another double bed, a programmable heater to keep the interior warm and cosy, plus a 150W solar panel and lithium leisure battery.

David Elliott, CEO and founder of Wellhouse Leisure commented: “We are over the moon that our campervans have helped raise over £1.6m for BBC Children in Need’s Appeals over the last two years. The money raised will help to change children and young people’s lives across the UK and help make a difference when it is needed most.”

Neil Menzies, Partnerships Director at Caravan Guard, said: “We’re delighted to have supported the BBC Children in Need Appeals for the last two years with a year’s free specialist campervan insurance. We care passionately about supporting charities and helping to make a positive difference to the community and we’re thrilled so much money has been raised to help and support children and young people across the UK.”
