One of the UK’s biggest outdoor equipment companies, AMG Group, has announced that Rob Birrell will be its new managing director, commencing 3 July. The appointment represents a promotion for Rob, who was previously the company’s marketing director.

Stephen Newlands, who has been in the managing director role at the company since 2002, will assume the role of company chairman, effective the same date.

Rob said: “I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my AMG career.  I’ve been passionate about our brands and industry for a long time, and look forward to continuing to build our portfolio, leading position, and seeing many of our partners over the summer months in our brand bothy, presenting the 2024 collections”.

Stephen added: “We’re delighted to appoint Rob, who has built a wealth of experience across the AMG business, and outdoor industry.  I’m sure you will join me in congratulating Rob, and we look forward to seeing the brands and business flourish under his leadership”.
