Dometic underlines its commitment to the environment

Recreational vehicle component and accessory expert Dometic has highlighted the importance of reducing its environmental impact as a company and looks set to continue on a number of initiatives to meet specific goals to achieve that. The company is keen to achieve long-term sustainability across all areas, including reducing CO2 production, increasing the lifespan of its products, reducing material use and waste, lowering its energy consumption and correctly handling the chemicals it uses.

As a producer of RV-specific products including air conditioning systems, refrigerators, lighting solutions, camping furniture and more, Dometic uses materials such as plastics, steel, aluminium and copper. In order to minimise its use of resources, it has plans to use more recycled materials in the future, as well as encouraging the recycling of its own products. Dometic has also made it company-wide mission to improve its energy efficiency and reduce energy usage across all of its facilities. It is currently on track to reduce its energy use by 10 per cent by the end of 2021. The company is also focused on reducing its CO2 impact, not only by reducing the energy it uses, but by also making sure it uses only sustainable energy. EVP and head of group operations at Dometic, Eva Karlsson, said: “As of 2021, Dometic will only purchase fully renewable electricity across our operations in Germany. By doing this, we estimate to reduce CO2 emissions by 40 per cent in the EMEA region.”

What are Dometic’s environmental goals?

  • To reduce space by 15 per cent by 2021
  • To reduce energy consumption by 10 per cent by 2021
  • To reduce water consumption by 10 per cent by 2021
  • To recycle 75 per cent of all waste by 2021

How is it attempting to achieve these goals?
