Used motorhome sales booming to record levels in UK

Used motorhome sales in the UK are soaring to record levels according to one of the country’s leading luxury motorhome dealerships. Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld has reported a 37.5 per cent increase on second-hand motorhome sales between July 2022 and March 2023 compared to the same period between 2021 and 2022. In response to this increased demand, Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld has launched a new approved used programme known as Elevation X, which offers buyers a 10-point promise covering preparation, presentation, and aftersales support.

Ross Edwards (pictured above), managing director at Travelworld, said: “The second-hand motorhome and camper van market is as buoyant as I’ve seen it. We have seen a huge increase in interest in used vehicles since the launch of Elevation X and that has led to record-breaking sales.

“As well as our enhanced offering, the increase is also partly down to the much-publicised supply chain issues which have reduced the number of new motorhomes on the market, brought about by a stinging combination of Covid and Brexit.

“Though the problems are easing, and we have maintained good stock levels throughout, it has made the second-hand market a more attractive option for many.

“It is also true that motorhoming has continued to grow in popularity since the pandemic as people look for new ways to enjoy travel, whether that’s in the UK or abroad.”

The boom is also good news for those wanting to sell their motorhomes – used car prices recently grew for the 35th month in a row in the UK, with motorhomes following the trend. Travelworld is again capitalising on this by offering to buy good condition motorhomes up to five years old from users.
